Vice President of Finance & Accounting

Lynches River Electric Cooperative (LREC) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of Vice President of Finance and Accounting. This position is responsible for all aspects of the organization's finances, including general accounting and audits; finance to include investments, cash management, and long- and short-term debt acquisition and management; operating reports; property records; taxes; and member billing. 

Founded in 1939, LREC is a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative serving Lancaster, Kershaw and Chesterfield counties in South Carolina. The cooperative has 53 full-time employees serving more than 20,000 consumers over 2,873 miles of line. LREC receives its wholesale power from Santee Cooper and is a member of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field. A Master's degree in business adminstration or a related field, or a CPA certification is desired. Ten years of experience in cooperative utility accounting is preferred. In addition, candidates should have a good understanding of accounting principles and procedures as they relate to the financial statement of a rural electric utility. This includes a thorough knowledge of the RUS Uniform System of Accounts, including work order procedure, general and subsidiary ledges, and to have complete familiarity with the financing and operation of a rural electric utility. A successful candidate will be one with integrity, good interpersonal skills, analytical problem-solving ability and a strong work ethic in dealing with occasionally complex issues.

LREC is located in the rural community of Pageland, South Carolina. The population is approximately 2,700. The small and welcoming town is located 40 miles from Charlotte, North Carolina and 75 miles from Columbia, South Carolina. Pageland is most well-known for the annual Watermelon Festival which hosts nearly 25,000 visitors from all over the Southeast.
