Two vacation homes on Lake Wateree served by Lynches River Electric Cooperative were broken into between 12 noon and 12 midnight Wednesday. After removing meter bases to cut power to security alarms, burglars broke doors to gain access to the homes.
The burglaries were discovered by an employee of Lynches River Electric Cooperative. The employee in charge of the automated reading system went to the homes to investigate why there were no readings from the meters at the two homes. While there the employee noticed the broken meter base and broken door on the first home. The co-op employee then called the Kershaw County Sheriff's Department and the home owner to report the break-in.
A similiar scene was observed at the second home—a broken meter base and damaged front door standing open. The Kershaw County Sheriff's Department is investigating these break-ins. If you have information about these burglaries, please contact the Kershaw County Sheriff's Department at (803) 425.1512.
